I'm regretting not going over to watch this year's Ronde van Vlaanderen. My local cafe will have race coverage on Eurosport, but at the same time as a few footie games. The place will be mobbed with Italian footie fans.

Anyone know of a cafe or pub that is showing De Ronde in central London?

  • Generally speaking, Bin, I'd recommend Italia Uno on Charlotte Street for watching races. The only problem is that, on big football weekends, it's usually full of rowdy Italian fans and the owner, Felice, has a struggle finding a TV to show the cycling on.

Give Felice a call on 020 7637 5326 and ask him how he's fixed for Sunday.

  • Oh dear, maybe your local cafe IS Italia UNO.

Bierodrome on Kingsway maybe? They have a big screen though I've never seen cycling on it. They might switch it on for you if you ask them.

It is. Felice and I are on first name terms. But the cyclists get squeezed out when the footie is on. He's promised to put it on the small telly, but I'm not happy :-( And De Ronde is too good to miss...

eurosport video streaming or cycling.tv (if you can get the bloody thing to work). Not on TV uninterrupted in the UK AFAIK

I get a tip that there is a Belgian bar/cafe http://www.lowlander.com in Drury lane. So I take a trip down there.

Oh, dear... It seems The Lowlander has fallen into the same trap as Irish theme pubs. I'm sure anyone from Flanders or the Netherlands would be disappointed by a visit there. I sit down for a coffee and peruse the menu and it seems very genuine. But, of course, I'm a fool. When my coffee arrives and I ask the young man if they will be showing De Ronde van Vlaanderen on the TV on Sunday he looks at me and smiles; and in his Australian accent tells me: "No mate, we don't do that sort of thing here." I didn't bother asking about the Amstel gold race :-(

Do I bother with De Hems in Macclesfield St W1?

I knew I should have booked my ticket to watch the race in Oudenaarde.

The footie fans weren't in quite the numbers expected, so I got to see it all on the big screen in Italia Uno :D:D

    Ciao

did they have Eurosport International ? For us SKY subscribers the coverage was cr£p..... What's the story for Paris - Roubaix next Sunday? I would be interested in turnig up if we could get a weight of cycling fans to get the race live.
