Headset size

I need to order a new headset today and forgot to measure the size - doh! The bike is a 2002 Decathlon 1.0, steel (including the forks) - I assume that it will be a 1", since it is steel and old, but I'm not sure.

Does anyone know? Or have a guess, given the age etc?

    Take the top cap off the headset and measure the diameter of the fork steerer - 1" is 25.4mm and 1.125" is 28.6mm
    Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

    Yes - agreed that this is the best method to measure it, but I have forgotten to do so before coming to work - hence looking for other guesses to what it might be. I'll just guess it is a 1" I think.
