Resistant to punctures?

Hi,
Can anyone recommend a good road race tyre that is puncture resistant. I have Schwalbe Ultremos fitted to my Cube Agree with Slime tubes and I am still always getting punctures. I have Conti Gator Skins fitted to my commuter but I feel that these are too heavy and too much of a pain to get off when they do get the odd puncture.
Any ideas?

I use Stelvio's on my good bike and touch wood no probs yet. I've always found Schwable tyres to be the best for puncture protection albeit a heavy tyre.0

Do these tubes just mend themselves...sounds wierd?0

Any idea in the Schwalbe Stelvio?
Dooleys in Paisley are still selling the original Pro Races...
I wouldn't call any of the pro race range puncture resistance though... if you want a tougher michelin race tyre, then go for the ironman one.

Yes they do. They contain a sealant that dries on exposure to air, with small bits of rubber in it. The rubber bits plug the hole and the sealant dries them into place.
Downside is that if you get a very large hole, they don't work and are very hard to patch because the sealant stops the patch from sticking.
But for most of the glass shards I seem to pick up commuting, they work well.John Stevenson0 -

Surely they dry as soon as you pump the tyres up then....0 -

No because there's a lot more solvent per volume of air in the situation than when a very small amount of sealant is exposed to a lot of air. Inside the tyre, a small amount of the solvent evaporates, but once it's saturated the air, that stops and you still have liquid sealant.
Eventually the sealant dries out, of course as solvent's lost with normal air loss through the tube wall and tyres, but that takes a year or so.John Stevenson0 -
vittoria rubino pro tech 240g vs 190g but pretty puncture resistant and roll very well0

I don't know the answer to punctures but I just ordered some of this stuff www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/tools/c ... lant-30813 worth a try I guess as those Slime tubes seem to only come 28-32C and they're not available from Wiggle anyway right now.0

ive had a pair of GP4000s since 2005 - not a single puncture ever. Dodgy fraying on the sidewalls though so I wouldnt recommend you keep them too long....0

Stelvio Plus are good - seem very grippy to me too. They are easy to fit as they are folders. Lighter, pretty puncture proof and less grippy are Conti 4 season (again easy to fit).0

I'd agree with andrewgturnbull - pro race 2 not particularly puncture proof, I found the side walls to be very vulnerable. Also agree with andyfaden, rubino pro's are practically bomb proof and they roll well enough.O na bawn i fel LA0
