Khamsin Pawls

Does anyone know where I can buy some Pawls for my Khamsin freehub? I have changed everything else so this is the last resort. In the last week I have changed my pedals, bottom bracket, hub bearings and freehub bearings. Went out today and still had the annoying clicking/ratchety niose, feeling. I am pretty sure it is the pawls, if I hold the wheel and put pressure on the pedal in certain positions I can feel it slip a little. It is as if only 1 or 2 of the pawls are slipping. Is this a common problem? The wheels are on my winter bike and this is the second season.

They should be a fairly standard spaer - try R J Chicken if you can't find a local retailer. Campag freehubs go for a pasttime so it's nothing unusual.0

R J Chicken don't stock them. Any ideas? Has Italian cycling products gone out of business?0

You're better off buying a new freehub from the LBS. They'll almost certainly have one. make sure you specify the wheels - lower end freehubs are different to higher end ones since 2007 (I only found this out 2 days ago).
It's not the actual pawls that go on campag - it's the circular spring that holds them on. Over time this loosens and one of the pawls doesn't engage correctly hence the grinding noise (or complete silence, which is worse!).
I had Zondas that had freehub failure, and i've just had to replace the one on my Shamals that are less than a year old.
I don't really know why Campag haven't sorted this by now. With Shimano about to release an electronic shifiting system, you'd have thought a company with Campag's pedigree could fit better springs!
I still wouldn't swap tho...Knackered? Me?0 -
I've had pawls-problems twice now on lower-end Campag hubs - but ones which have done many winter miles. Both times, LBS job. They can get them - well Mercian in Derby could. And the cost is no more than buying them yourself.
Stwutter - have a look at my recent post on Zondas- interested to have an opinion0
