Squeaking Derailleur
Hello,
I started commuting in september and everythiong has been going well until this week when my rear derailleur started squeaking when changing gears.
I have cleaned and lubed but to no avail, I have noticed that it only squeaks when im riding the bike and not if it is on the workstand.
Having a read on here and other sites, I think it may be the chain as I have not changed it since I bought the bike in september. Would anone agree or have other suggestions before I take it to the LBS
thanks in advance

The mileage would have to be very high for the chain to be suspect, does the squeak happen only when you change gear or is it constant? A constant noise could be just the chain needing lube.O na bawn i fel LA0

Not really, might have a slight locked link. I have broken a chain after a couple of weeks also When it is on the stand change gear by pulling on the cable instead of using the changer and listen to it.
The only squesk I normally get is from the jockey wheels but some grease resolves that.
Squirt some lubricant on the changer spring whilst changing using the wire.
Then I would degrease and re lube your chain or change if it is that old.0 -
It always happens on my bikes at some time.
I found it to be the jockey wheels on the derailleur .
Greasing helps for a short while.
So as soon as it starts I always change them to TACX jockey wheels. They have never squeaked .0 -
Cheers all sorted now, it was the jockey wheels.0
