I have Kysryium Equipe wheels from around 2006 and need to replace the rim due to cracks around the spoke eyelets.
The spokes are straight pull and the rim is 24 hole.
I tried a DT Swiss rim (not many 24 hole rims available) but the spokes are too long.
Neither spokes or rims seem to be available from Mavic dealers.
Do I just need to buy a new wheel, and if so why would anyone continue to buy wheels from a company with such poor service.
Grateful for any tips.

I was going to get some Kysriums until I found out it would be a three month wait if I ever needed the rim replacing!

Why not try and get some hand built wheels from a recommend local wheel builder? That way if you have any problems you can take them back to the person who built them.
    It's all good.
  • mavic now have a service centre here in the uk so you could give them a try..

  • Ask for Gary Blackett

He has just sorted new rims on a pair of my Ksyriums and very nice they are too.

Good service from Mavic in the UK finally!
  • Thanks for the replies.
I decided I didn't want to be off the road, so have cut longer threads on the existing spokes and fitted the Dt rim. spokes stick miles out of the nipples, but the rim is deep enough to keep them well away from the innertube.
Have a sneaking feeling that someone may tell me why this is a bad idea, but at least I am back on my bike.

An interesting fix :-) I'd be interested in how durable the spokes are - when manufactured, conventional wire spokes apparently have the thread rolled not cut to maintain strength.
  • done about 300 miles on them now and all good so far. Bike feels more positive with the new rims, but that is probably just in the mind.
In case anyone is watching to see what hapens long term, I'll post something if they fail
