Centaur uprade
Hi all. I have the Centaur groupset for my steed and have about £250 to burn. I'm thinking of upgrading the shifters to Record/Chorus, as they're available for around £170-£200. Would this be money well spent and would I notice the difference? Weight isn't an issue. I'm looking more for performance increases here.
Cheers

If you have older shifters (2006 or less ??) then I think the functionality is the same - but Chorus and Record have better front mech trimming and multiple shift functionality over the current Centaur levers0

Depending on what wheels you've got on your bike that might be a better area to spend your money - or if you don't already have them, the carbon cranks (chorus or centaur), to be honest changing the shifters isn't going to make much difference to your ridingpm0

I have the new version with escape mech. I do like it but chorus\record seem that much better and I'd see more benefit than a crankset upgrade...I think???Philo

A carbon crankset is only worth upgrading to if you like the look, you won't get a better performing crankset by going carbon and it'll only be marginally lighter.
I wouldn't bother thinking about changing the shifters, unless you have a triple. The lack of fine trimming IMO isn't that much of a loss on a double.
Depending on what wheels you've already got, Campag Zondas (~£250) might be the best upgrade.0 -
