This may have been posted already, that said I found it useful and interesting in calculating ride routes.

  • I've found that mapmyride.com is the most useful site for mapping and recording routes and viamichelin.com is very handy for route planning. The combination of both with an OS map is top notch. Both were found after recommendations of this forum.

mapmyride: http://www.mapmyride.com - the strengths for me are 1. you can use 'follow roads' to speed up route plotting, and 2. it does a (limited) elevation profile.

viamichelin: http://www.viamichelin.com/viamichelin/ ... mePage.htm - go to the options link on this page, underneath the Destination postcode field and you can specify 'by bike' which instantly avoids motorways, tolls, major roads etc.
