6mm hope brake hose?

Hi,

I've just got a secondhand rear hope mono mini brake system. All is fine except the hose is too short for my bike.

No problem I thought, I'll just fit some new hose. The problem is I have seen reference to both 6mm (old) and 5mm (new) hope hose. My hose is 6mm external diameter so I guess it is the "old stuff".

My problem is I cannot find 6 mm hose anywhere! Only 5mm.

Does anyone know where the old 6mm stuff can still be got? I am reluctant to spend £30 odd for a new kit with fittings as all I need is a bit of hose.

Someone in the review section has said it can be used as a replacement for the old 6mm hope hose. Can anyone confirm if this is true?

    Cannot confirm 100% as not familiar with hope (and don't want to dissapoint) I assume (if going with the 5) you will need a 5mm olive etc...

    sorry, long day at work. So i therefore assume that it would be ok to order the 5mm and the 5mm hose connector. hope that helps

    Thanks for that. I searched for 30 minutes and didn't find them! Not the cheapest hose but still much cheaper than a complete kit.

    I was about to ask if I could just get 5mm hose and 5mm olives but chain reaction don't have the 5mm olive in stock (only the more expensive complete coupling). Now if I could find somewhere that has both in stock then that would be great because I have also discovered my frame hose guides are 5mm, not 6 so it will save a few tie wraps! :o

    On the other hand I have noticed that chain reaction sell a complete fibrax kit for £20 which isn't bad value compared to 2M of hose. Maybe I should stop being cheap and save myself some hassle!

    but not the hose :(

    I'm not sure it is worth ordering just two olives on their own and my wife will complain if I suddenly decide I need a load of other stuff..... :wink:

    I'll have another search tonight but I will probably go for the rushextremesports hose. They also do disc bolts and fluid fairly cheap.
