I have knees that are shot to bits so I need to wear knee pads (not that I ever crash you understand) I have been wearing 661 veggie pads for the last couple of years but they are falling to bits I like the look of the 661 kyle strait pads and the 661 tom cat pads anyone using either of these are they any good for xc ie not to sweaty and comfy for pedalling if not anyone reccomend any other brand

don't know what they're like yet, but the new 661 evo pads that come out in April look interesting, some kind of soft foam that hardens under impact, so should be very flexible to wear
    what are brakes for again

I can recommend Raceface FR knee/shin combo pads. They're so comfortable to wear and have great protection if you do fall.

six six one race lights was recomended to me and not looked
back since nice and light and fit snug, and dont move whilst
    riding.

I wear these for extreme xc and downhill style of riding
    and weigh bugger all.

How comes you have not bought another set of veggies?

I have never quite got on with the veggies knees there is a seam that always rubbed after a couple of sweaty hours

i use the 661 races for xc and dont find them a hindrance at all. cant even tell im wearnig them usually. they're more comfy than the lites as they have more padding and sit of the leg better.

Sorry for the delay in the reply Stubs.

They're not heavy at all in my opinion. After a few mins I forget I'm even wearing them cos they're so comfortable. They're not restrictive at all while climbing either. Just make suree you get the Freeride ones rather than the Downhill ones as the Downhill ones are a lot more ridgid!

how did god end up in a conversation about knee pads???? that is so random. Anyway God is neither male nor female. God is a spirit being hence being made in his image we are spirit beigns who live in a body and have a soul
Why use brakes? Falling off is a much quicker way to stop

God!? WTF this is a mountain biking cycling forum... I hate talk about God, did enough of that in philosophy and theology.. Truth is everyone has their own opinion about god/bible/religion, I just wish people weren't so opionated about the topic.

God will be very angry at you for blasphemy like that but if you sacrifice a goat (or a packet of fig rolls) she might not turn you into a frog

good luck with getting hold of the 661 evos I had some on order for ages with chainreaction till I gave up and changed the order to 661 kyle straits and I absolutely love them but I cant help thinking what if I had waited so let us know when youve given them a good them a good test

  • I have 661 Kyle Strass pads (£30) and can't fault them. I can happily ride in these four a few hours at a time with no pedalling problem. But my knees do get warm in them though.
Have wiped out a few times whilst wearing them and they are very good at what they do.

The Evo Knee pads are in stock at CRC but they cost £62. I have the Evo elbow pads and they are pretty comfortable for long rides

Get some 661 evo`s supportive as well as protective, you dont really know youve got them on for the first few hours.
