m960 middleburn chainrings

hi all,
i've just got some replacement chainrings for my m960 xtr cranks, but after fitting the inner and middle rings (outer one not arrived yet) i noticed there wasn't much space where the chain goes when in the small ring. after running a chain on the small ring, the chain rubs on the middle ring. do i need special chainring bolts or something. any help greatly appreciated
