Stem/headset

Might be a stupid question, but primarily asking out of not wanting to look like a ninny!

I adjusted the angle of my Specialized stem today and also dropped it by an inch or so by moving the spacers around. Have I committed an evil sin? I've got a sportive bike and I'm making adjustments for racing/tt'ing as best I can. No room for any more bikes at mo. boo hoo.
