Had been looking for a rockhopper 07 but all sold out - have been offered one of these for

Given your requirements I would avoid that hardrock. Looking at an all in weight if 34lbs, and a fork that is a disgrace to mountain biking! The Scott dumps on it in every respect, including its V brakes. Not saying it is the bike for you, but I would not even shortlist the the hardrock.0
