Installing my new V12 pedals...
Specialized P2 Cromo

Several weeks ago I picked up my Specialized P2 Cromo, it's great but the pedals are the only thing that lets it down. Yesterday I bought some brand new DMR V12 pedals, but I can't figure out how to fit them. I understand about the left and right pedals having opposite threads so I need to unscrew the old stock pedals in different directions. But I'm not sure whether the new pedals fit the cranks. Any help would be appreciated.

They come in two different sizes - 1/2 inch and 9/16 - check you got the right ones for your crank.0

The pedals that I picked up were 9/16, and it looks like they are too small for my cranks, should I return them and pick up 1/2 inch ones then?0

1/2 is smaller than 9/16ths"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

lets have some photos of your old pedals and the cranks. The threaded bits.
Als what are the cranks?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I need to check exactly what make they are, but they are bmx style cranks. I'll try to get some pics up asap.0

According to Specialized's website they are Fuse tubular heat treated Cr-Mo 3pc, 175mm cranks. The 9/16 V12's they I bought should fit, as the stock pedals are 9/16 as well.0

On the right side of the bike, clockwise to tighten. On the left side of the bike, anticlockwise to tighten."Melancholy is incompatible with bicycling." ~James E. Starrs0

So I just use an allen key and and a spanner to remove the stock pedals and fit the new ones? I dont need to oil or grease the threads do I?0

bit of grease on the threads will help you remove them later.
You need either a allen key or a spanner, i'd use an allen key...0 -
Pedal spanner is you have one."Melancholy is incompatible with bicycling." ~James E. Starrs0

Could I use some WD40 to help remove the old pedals, as they are insanley stiff and I don't want to accidently thread my cranks?0

wouldn't hurt, try squeezing the crank arm and tool together...0

good luck cross threading the cranks.
Very unlikely when removing anything. and as both threaded parts are steel."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I got my mate to change them earlier today with his pedal spanner.0
