campagnolo
i bought a bike because i havent tried campagnolo gears before, and this has them,
its 20 speed and the first thing i have noticed is the the front derailer gear leaver clicks 5 times
up or down to run through the two front chainrings, is this normal?
shouldnt it be 1 click up 1 click down?

What gruppo?mines 9sp veloce and shifts one click up and down or push right down and drop/gain 3 gears.to drop ring s you do have to push a series of clicks but its done in no time.0

It's normal. It allows you to trim the mech to prevent chain rub.0

You'd need a triple chainset, new BB, and front mech. Possibly also rear mech with longer cage. If you want/need lower gearing, swap for a compact chainset, but depending on what type of BB/chainset interface (square taper or ultra torque) you may need a new BB.Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos0 -

I find this a good thing as it lets you trim the front mech to stop chain rub, dependant upon which sprocket you're using at the back - you soon get used to how far to push the lever for a smooth change.Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos0 -
well hopefully overtime i can get used too itSlow Downcp wrote:

Yeah, the front is not indexed in the way Shimano is. You could swap to triple, but it would cost you and you would still have a few clicks. The new QS system in 07 ergo levers is supposed to make the shift a bit faster.
It may seem odd to you, but the way the front mech changes is one of Campagnolo's advantages. If you pre shift the front in a bit, you can complete the move to the other ring at the same time as changing the gears at the back0
