I've ben converting my hybrid to a single speed and am just about done (just need to fit the bargain brakes I got last week)

Today was the first time I've ridden with a clipless system. I fitted the powerplay pedals and used another Ebay bargain Diadora shoe combo on my Dawes Discovery 301.
What made it phenomenal was the fitting of some much thinner tyres I used to run in place of the fat Specialised Crossroads 38s... the steering is so quick now.. I'm not going back.. sod bumping up curbs.

Here's a pic of a much faster bike than 2 weeks before...

and best of all I've got a reknewed enthusiasm for ridiing it. It was at a stage of worm chain/gears and tired ness, creaky adjustable stem and what not that riding was a chore.. no longer! I'm going home early just to ride it sooner! :D

  • Awesome! What gear ratio are you riding?

    42 16 (I was running 38 20 or 16) mostly when I had gears
Gusset Tribal R front and Shimano DXr rear 3/32 on a 1/8" half link chain (3/32 was too short)

All I have to do now is fit the Lidl special speedo (hope it has a decent wheel size for me) and see how fast I am.. no idea how slow I was previously but I'm having to cane it up hills now to avoid really tough low cadence up hills.
