Recently purchased my first road bike and would like to keep it good condition, so was wondering about keeping chain, chainring and cassette lubricated. Is there any special lubricant or will any do.
Any help appreciated. :lol::lol:

    Yes anything will do.

    But I wouldn't use anything
    For chains I use wax or grease (if I can get it) Oil usually clogs the system.
    I have never in my life lubricated a cassette.

    And to wash the bike - use any type of car wash/wax

    And don't start pulling the bike apart to lubricate it (some do). Generally what you can't see doesn't need lubricating.

    I like the wax style lub's for the chain as opposed to oil. Seems like things stay a bit cleaner. I use some stuff called "Rock and Roll". Works great and things stay quiet.
    Although wax lubes need to be used more often than oil types.

    With Summer just round the corner (hoorah!) invest in some White Lightening wax-based lubricant. Great in the dry, but not great in the wet (I have been using Finish Line throughout the winter).
