So...my rear brake lever on my Juicy 5 got bent riding last week. Is there anyway i could get just the actual replacement??

i've searched the net and all i can find are the Avid Speed Dial Ultimate, 7, SL and Avid FR-5 brake levers? which one belongs to the Juicy 5 (im guessing FR-5).

I only really need the actual lever rather than the whole unit. is this possible or not?? Thanks

talk to your bike shop. or the place you got the brakes, bike from. Web sites do not always show parts like that.

Dont know if the Juicy 7's handle be ok as the metal brake handle is
    Magnesim not a strong material.

When i tested the Stumpy these are on it and when i braked hard i felt
    the metal give a little.
Handle is an alloy which has stretching properties like aluminium
    but stronger
Proberly carbon may be the best option has it does not stretch
    under force

What sort of crash did you have on your Patriot??
Just maybe a shit handle and get it replaced

Seems now we are at a point where we want light light light
everything but the materials are at there limit.

Just need to create a new stronger Alloy

Give Orange a call they will help as they supply the parts
  • Ok....how did you know i have a Patriot? i'm officially spooked!!!

anyway.....wasn't a hard crash.....the muddy terrain at Swinley Forest on bank holiday monday broke my fall, but i did eat a whole lot of mud (God knows how i managed to bend it though). Will call Orange tomorrow and see if they can help.

Speaking of swinley forest....does anyone know where that 6/8ft drop-off is, i've seen a lot of vids on youtube, but i've gone around Swinley (and got lost) a hundred times and i just can't find it.

You should be able to go direct to the importer Fisher Outdoor as well. They're pretty easy to deal with.

Oh right....thanks for the advice dude, Bike is sweet, brakes are yet to bed in. Have only ridden in the once in the mud, weather across the UK is not lookin good for the next few weeks. Would like to take it to Chicksands and give it a proper going over. But i gotta admit....riding uphill is damn near impossible in this bike, i used to be the strongest uphill rider in comparison to my friends when we all hired bikes......but not no more.

Min_the_merciless wr bouts are you if you want a quick ride and hardly
any mud then take a look at Hainault Forest.

A small but well maintained Forest.

£ 2.00p Pound for all day or £ 1.00p for two hours.

Dont you have the same fully adjustable Fox Fork 36'r Talas?

Just let you know i had a problem with the set up of my Orange 5 AM

So i went upto Orange head office and they sorted my bike and
then went to the shop to be re-inburst.

But what i did not know is that for £ 150.00p
You can have your bike frame stripped down and re-sprayed any colour
in there range and change the bearings and they put on new transfers

You would have to go to Tiawan to get that service from another
    manufacturer.
  • Im from NW london, i suppose Hainult wouldn't be too far. What is it like? any nice DH sections or jumps to entertain myself with?

I've only ridden in Swinley & Thetford Forest so far....

Ok just some good downs and ones you can get up on and down
    with hardly any mud.

    How was Swinly??

    I am in East London
  • Swinley was good....was way too muddy though, really slowed me down. But still good.
Check out the vids on youtube....got some good sections, all the downhill sections are short but sweet. But swinley has some of the best Singletrack in the UK, in fact i think it was voted best UK trail in 2004. def. worth checkin out.

Where do you usually ride? How old are you dude?

I think all round Essex is the same but i here it is very much even worse up in
Yorkshire and that neck of the woods.
  • Good going mate....i'll have to check out Hainult for sure......any jumps or drop-offs to practice on??

    No Jumps or Drop-offs
Just some ups and one big hill and some good narrow downs

Just a place you can gurantee to be able to ride
More XC country i think you could say

I need to practise me drop-offs
