Astana seems to want to make a point with this race - they brought an impressive roster and I reckon they'll dominate the team standings...

But no team has sent the team Astana has as others are using it for preparation for bigger races. Surely it is a little early for Astana to prepare for the Vuelta?

What else are they supposed to do? Not race Leipheimer and Contador until August?

Contador winning a 10k TT ahead of Leipheimer and Dekker?! Someone is a) on form or b) making a point.

Is that rule still in place? If you win, it's still about what you took? Pip Gilbert must be on one hell of a program, then!

    I reckon its a mixture of A + B

To be honest tho.. Astana have missed a good few races that other teams have been riding at so I reckon we should expect good things from them.. I hope they do well in any of their races.. It just makes everything a bit more exiting..

Very nice climb, a big fight between Soler-Levi and Contador. The american exploted in the 2 last kms

    Stage

    1. Contador
    2. Soler 11"
    3. Dekker 33"
    4. Pardilla 33" (a very young new spanish climber from a small team called Burgos Monumental)
    5.Menchov 33"

Levi lost more than a minute in just 2 km (he went with Pardilla before a Soler´s attack with Contador in his wheel).

Samuel Sánchez and Sastre don´t were in the fight at all (just training)

    Overall

    1. Contador 39
    2. Soler a 39"
    3. Dekker a 46"
    4. Leipheimer a 1 09"
    5. Menchov 1 23"

What a level, seems to be a Gran Tour overall clasification!

interesting results. Astana will liven up small races than TDF this eyar as they have less opportunity to gain attention-they will trounce everyone at Vuelta.

Yeap, i think he is one of main favourites for the Giro.

The speaker said today there is a small chance that Astana will race the Giro (he didn´t said why)

Interesting. They set the Dauphiné on fire last summer, their riders were doing extraordinary things and many watchers were raising eyebrows. But no one was caught until Vino was rousted a month later, so they can come back.

Nice to see Levi blow today. I'm kinda indifferent about Contador winning but at least he attacks. If Cadel Evans rides safe, Levi rides boring. I want to believe in Soler but my inner cynic holds me back.

I guess they did not embarrass the 'race' by getting caught, or winning it
