what is the freehub made from? Alloy or steel. if ally any cassette with a carrier.

then chose a cassette to suit the gear ratios you want.

So you need a cassette with a carrier eg XT and above.

why do you want a 11-23 cassette?

what cog is on the front?

    what is the bike?

well you wont find a cassette with that ratio. a 12-26 yes but you will lose out on top (fast) gearing

just fit a 11-32 (or 11-34) and there is not such thing as a DH cassette just close ratio and wide ratio. these have been Marketed as road and MTB but there is no right or wrong. but unless you want to be cutting up the freebody with the cogs you need a cassette with a carrier.
