Building a carbon frame?

I was thinking of taking up a new project - Taking my old steel road frame, making a jig out of its proportions, buying carbon fibre tubing of the same diameter and making a replica.

Is this doable? How would I go about joining the carbon tubing together?

Thanks

A guy on the old forum did just this a long while back. George Crammond IIRC. This was back in the days when carbon frames were restricted to the impossibly expensive hig-end.

Buy a steel lug set? Adhesive and rivets? There's a very nice Nervex copmplete lug set on th'bay at moment! Main triangle presumably "doable" but the rear end might be more ingenuity-stretching!

I was actually thinking of fixing all the carbon tubing and bottom bracket/head tube/seat tube/dropouts in place on a homemade jig, then pre impregnating carbon fibre and wrapping several layers around all joints before wrapping in shrink wrap tape and using a heat gun to compress it.

Remember, I know very little about carbon fibre, so much reading and experimentation is needed, but does this procedure sound, well... sound?
