have been beaten by a hatyes 9 rear brake! needed a new rotor and a bl;eed so no issue there as such but! new rotor fitted and brake bled = marginal bite, not enough to cause enough friction to slow you down, so rebled the system and found a little air, and put all back together, enough to marginallty slow the wheel down when being ridden but not a lot! So rebled again and found more air! so pumped through a lot of fluid until there was absolutely no air at all and still has no feel,
whilst pushing the calipers back in it looked like there was a minute bit of fluid leaking from inside (after the third bleed and no feel), could it be that the caliper seals need doing?? hence causing the air recuring in the system????
have given up for the day as back is aching and knee was giving me some stick after my off yesterday!
any pointers or advice gratefully received!!

if there is a leak then yes. Or you are not actually getting all the air out.

  • have had a quick look and the caliper rebuild kit isnt all that much so will have a look around it and another go at bleeding tomorow and if thats does'nt work then i'l go for that!

  • had a quick look this morning and appears the caliper comes out on one side but gets a certain way and stops and you can see some seepage around the edge of it so to me that sais the caliper needs a reseal?? (can someone confirm for me please!!) will have a little play when the littun goes to sleep for the afternoon but wont be for l;ong as my back's aching from bending down all afternoon yesterday lol!

hayes are unreliable saying that i have them but im saving for my downhill custom build otherwise id buy new brakes, but the rotors are reknown for warping beyond repair and the calipers are sh*t

  • i am coming to the opinion of that after this set lol and the prices they seem to fetch on ebay dictate they arnt in great demand!! the rotor was warped to b#ggery too lol! one session on the 4x/jump track killed it! seems to have mullered the caliper seals too! i am tasked with getting it ridable again so one of the mums from the baby groups husbands has no excuses hahah!
