Campagnolo Compact Chainset - New Front Changer?

I have just put a Centaur Carbon 50 / 34 Compact Chainset on my bike for some summer sportives. The Capagnolo Chorus front changer I used with my old 53 / 39 set up seems to work fine despite the specified limits in tooth capacity stated for it being exceeded.

My question therefore concerns whether there really is any advantage in moving to one of the newer front changers which are listed as being compact compatible?

not really. The standard one is fine. The CT one is a tad crisper (I use one) but it's not a big leap.

Having used both types on a compact, I would say don't waste your money. Why would Campag chainsets need a specific mech, no one elses does and they all work the same.

    Cheers.

I hoped that would be the case which is why I did not buy one in the first place.

I just needed a bit of reassurance.
