Hi. Does anyone have an opinion on what is the best tyre for Northern Sportives out of the Continental GP 4000, Schwalbe Ultremo or Michelin Pro Race 3??? I did fancy the Michelins but heard recently that they are no good for northern england i.e. a bit slippy. I am now veering towards the Schwalbes. Are they the best tyres for sportives??? Thanks!

Having always ridden on Michelin and having the ProRace 2s and the originals, I can recommend the 3s without even riding on them. But there are a couple riders on here who have the 3s and would tell you their merits themselves.

If you get continental, go for the GP4000S not the standard GP4000, it's a better tyre. I use them for races and club rides and find them to be excellent. Haven't tried the others though.

Another Conti. fan, but not ridden the others.
Currently using GP4000-S in 23c on the race bike, and GP4 season in 25c on the winter trainer - Much better in the wet than the GP4000, but probably on a par with the GP4000-S, which I haven't used extensively in the wet, but is very promising.

GP4 season gets less rubber cuts, but that's just cosmetic, as the GP4000-S Vectran breaker is very tough.
