Tyre pressures

Hi, I've been wondering what the best pressures are to run my tyres at, I've been mainly riding cross country with occasional road use. I've had them at 55 psi but for some reason they feel a bit weird when I'm riding on the road, as if they've no grip, am still a novice so not sure how they're supposed to feel off road but I've not had any hairy moments as yet. I'm pretty hefty weight wise, and the tyres I have on are Kenda Nevegals if that makes any difference.

Thanks

Owen

pressure depends on the terrain, conditions, tyre size, rider weight, bike type, tubes or tubless............. More info needed.

Bike is a GT Avalanche 1 disk with tubes, I'm 17 and a half stones and I ride in the Lakes mainly so it's pretty variable terrain really, some rocky paths, some bridleways

For road work , hard as you can get them tbh, sort of 50-60psi, off-road you are looking at 40psi as a good starting point.

i run my rear harder than my front, reaon is i want the rear tyre to be hard enough to avoid pinch flats and it has less rolling resistance, probably about 40psi.

i run the front lower pressure to stop it from getting pinged off line by obstacles like roots and rocks. proba about 30 psi.
