I am fixing up my old Raleigh as a training bike . It has Shimano RX100 .The square taper bottom bracket is still in good nick and I would like to keep it .It is a 68mm English thread with a 107mm spindle length .
My question is what makes of Cranksets can I use with a Shimano square taper B/B . I would like to use a compact double if possible ( not sure I can use a triple on a 68mm B/B ?) .I have Shimano Tiagra deraileurs front and back and a 9 speed cassette .

Altho' there are two types of "square" axles, most ditto cranks will fit your Shimano as far as I know. It's not the b/b width that determines double v triple compatability, rather the axle length.

  • Stronglight Impact compact - cheapish, light and will work fine on a JSO 107mm sqaure taper like what you got. Most commonly availalbe in 50/36 but other ring combos are available.
