Since switching over my wheels from standard alex mx22 to sun singletrack wheels, i have noticed that the rear disc is rubbing the pads, on the left hand pad as if you wer looking from behind the bike. any ideas on how to rectify this? thanks in advance

so have you re adjusted the caliper? Do it."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Hey hey, I'm having the same problems as the topic starter. Have a set of Quad QD1's and they are forever rubbing on bith wheels. I have adjusted the calipers but they still rub. The gap between the rotor and the pads is minute. Seems a little tight to me....? The hubs and spokes are new as are the roters. The only thing I can think of is gettent the wheels re-trued but as I have only had a few miles since installed they shouldn't need it yet. They seem ok with the naked eye, as do the rotors.

getting your wheels trues will do nothing for your rubbing discs.
How old are the brakes? been used a lot yet? just use them they will sort them selves out.
(or you could push the pads/pistons back into the calipers....)"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Hi,
Very new. Only had a couple of rides. I tried with pushing them back into the pistons but they are as far as they will go. Probably just need to bed in like you say...? I thought the bedding in thing was simelar to cars in that the "bedding in" describes the scores made on ther disk by the pads, which is when full stopping power is acheived....?

Sounds like you need to reshim the brake calliper. There are usually very thin washers (shims) in between the frame mounting and the calliper body. From the way you've described the problem, you need to remove one or more shims to move the calliper slightly towards the mounting bracket. If it turns out you need thinner ones you can get shims in assorted widths from an LBS or somewhere like this: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... odelID=356.
Make sure you use the same shim width on both mounting bolts.
If that fails you can get the mount faced - a very good LBS will have the tool to do this, although not all do. Shims should do it though.0 -
Mine isn't rubbing uniformly on the same side pad. Tends to rub on both at different parts of the turn. I will investigate the shim idea though. I did look at this as an option before however.0
