Anybody used one, just bust 2 Park tyre levers trying to get a new GP4000s on, thought there must be an easier way of fitting a new tyre, is this it?

Watched the demo video on the Park site, looked easy enough but they did use a MTB tyre which looked like you could take it off with your bare hands.

As normal guys Thanks for any advice in advance.

  • Just out of interest what rims were you putting the tyres on as I just put my GP4000s on Fulcrum racing 1's without needing tyre levers. I was expecting a real struggle after the last effort of trying to get conti. attack/force on Campag Neutron rims. I cycled in fear of p******s eventually when I did get one the tyre had stretched a little but was still a pig.

I did persevere with tyre levers but try stretching the tyre first i.e. by standing on it and pulling upwards.

    Good luck

    Hi onehip.

Surprise surprise Campag Neutrons, once the tyre is on its fairly easy to get back on and off, just as you say a pig to get on first time.
Resorted to the tried and tested old spoon method after just breaking another Park tyre lever, not the right thing I know but want to get out for a ride Friday and stuffed for LBS to buy some new ones, nearest one is 15 miles and two trains away.

Out of interest what size inner tube do you use with a 700x23 tyre, got given a handfull on a London to Paris last year by the mechanic and they are all sizes. Normally just buy the same as last time, 28-32.

    Cheers jonnyd

    Sorry all,
Not been using 28-32s in all the confussion on the kitchen table got the wifes tubes mixed up with mine and thought thats what I had on my wheel, today not been a good day, still 4 days of daylight riding ahead.
  • Glad to hear you finally got your tyres on, just have to hope you don't p******E at the weekend as you sound like you have run out of tyre levers

I do use 18-23 size tubes.

The Fulcrums as you probably know are made by Campag. so i don't know if the rim size is slightly smaller or the GP4000s are larger than the attack/force?

Also the Racing 1s don't have rim tape may make a difference.

    Happy riding.
