as sonic says 14 to whatever. so what do you want the bike for? jumping? DH? XC or just riding on some path/trails? More info needed."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Some XC and Trails really...0 -
Prob around a 16. I ride 3 GT bikes, one is 17, another 18, the other 20.5! All for slightly different usage. So trying a few out is the way forward, as top tube length has a big impact.0

What size frame would a 16 be? Would that be a Small?0

Could be! As I say, depends from brand to brand.0

Thanks for the help Supersonic, That IDRIVE looks wicked0

Its not bad lol. Works out pretty big for its medium listed size.0

I was in a similar position about 1 year ago. I'm 5 5", the 14" meant i was too cramped in the cockpit.
With a 17" i had no top bar clearance, this is what is settled for
17" but a unique frame shape which gave me some clearance.

I'm 5'11" and plan on using a mountain bike mainly for cross-country and trails (at least to begin with). But as can only afford 1 bike, so will need to also use it to ride to work (will need to get a 2nd set of wheels for this though).
I'm looking at the Saracen Zen 1

As it has a low slung top tube, I'm a bit confused on which size to go for, 17" or 19".
Any Ideas?0 -
As above, try them out if you can - could be one or the other!0

There seems to be a strange link between price and size as well. When I bought my trek4300 I needed a 19.5, but I sat on a Trek6000 which is higher up the range, and because of the more stretched out racing position I only needed a 17 (well, I would have done if I had been able to afford one....)
P.S. I'm just under 6 footOne day, I'm going to buy a cottage in a small village and become its idiot!0 -
hi, I could do with advice on this as well, im 6ft with long legs and looking for a AM bike, do i go for a large or a mediumwhat are brakes for again0

If most of your height is in your legs (like mine) then probably a medium, but again, every bike is different, so try them out!One day, I'm going to buy a cottage in a small village and become its idiot!0
