Recently purchased new road bike and thought it would be handy to have a pump (just incase). Looking at the pressure for my tyres it is 125psi. Willany pump do or are there only certain ones that will reach that pressure. Looked on various sites and they dont specify what pressure the pumps will opreate at.

Any thoughts would be helpful.

PS, i dont want to break the bank either, cheers.

A good track pump will give a reliable 120 for home use - regards manual hand pumps for when you're out on your bike, to a certain extent, you tend to get what you pay for - that said you should be alright with something like this:

    Wait for other reccommendations though.

I'll play devils advocate on this one. Although a good looking pump I should warn you
that it has been my experience that there is not a carry along(hand) pump out there that will
inflate to 160 PSI, reguardless of money spent. The 125 PSI that you see on your tire is
probably the maximum pressure it will reasonably hold before it blows off the rim bead.
Therefore this is a fine pump for on the road use. It will probably give you, maybe, 100
or 110 PSI which is more than enough to let you finish your ride and make it home.
Getting much more pressure out of one of these pumps involves developing 20" arms,
a 54" chest, and some steroids.

Agreed - they can take considerable effort to get to around 110.
