hi guys, a bit new to all this.

am i correct in thinking that i am on a shimano tiagra 9 speed 12-25 casette at the mo, and i want to purchase new wheels to upograde. can i also 'upgrade' my casette, can i buy say a shimano 105 9 speed? are the shimano casettes interchangable like this or do i need to either re-fit my old casette to new wheels or buy a new tiagra 9 speed?

help greatly appreciated

    all shimano 9spd are interchangeable...

are you on a dbl or triple chainset ???
  • im on a double... does this make a diff? just thought i might as well pay a little extra and perhaps get a better casette rather than use my old one or buy the same old model

no diff ..but if you are changing ratios you may have need a long arm rear derailleur ..

you may also need to get a new chain ..depending on how many miles/worn your current one is ...

it may jump if its worn on the new cassette..

i use tiagra 9 on my winter wheels & they are sound...

you can still get Ultegra 9 or DA 9 cassettes..or SRAM ones..
