There has to be a simple way of feeding the rear gear cable through the swing arm??? Any ideas or help will probably save my marriage!
Thank You

remove gromits. and can you feed a wire through first?

  • I've tried wire, just doesn't seem to simply slide through

I'm glad i've only had to change the outer once on the Patriot! It took me ages, I just kept on trying to feed it through and eventually got there. Just takes patience!

Pro racers run them along the top of the swingarm with heli tape over the top so they can be changed quickly.
But if you feed the inner cable in from the front and gently twist it through your finger and thumb as you feed it down towards the dropout end, it'll eventually pop out.
Then feed the outer cable over it, push the outer only and use the inner to guide the end out through the gromit. Then remove inner from outer, fit ferrule, and set up as normal.

For others reading this for future reference, don't remove the inner, and slide the new outer over that. Then change the inner. It's much easier that way.
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

Can use a cable rod system which electricans use to feed cable through
ceilings can buy from Screw Fix approx start £ 14.99p or un fold a
coat hanger sraighten it then using masking tape fix to one end of the
hanger and feed through the holes.

I just used abit of wire to get my cable outer through.

And for my hoses, routed it under my shock then over the top of the swing arm. Using

You had any problems getting your hoses through the guides on the down tube?
  • Thanks for your help folks, much appreciated, I managed it just about, the Brake hose was even more of a nightmare mind. Once again, thanks.
