Hi all, looking for some opinions on above.

One is a Claude Butler Cape Wrath D27, hydro drakes etc, 1 year old with obvious signs of use. £220
The other is a Giant Yukon 9 months old, mech discs, Suntour fork but looks as if it's straight out of the box and still has the wee bits on the tyres too. £200

Both bikes offered by local bike shops with excellent reputation for the shop offering the Giant.

Opinions anyone?

i would prefer the claud butler if i was buying new so for that much discount, i could live with signs of use.

make sure you get a warranty with the bike for all of the mechanical parts and id go for that.
  • remember, bikes and their parts are built to be used. I have quite a few second hand bits on my bike because you get more for your money.

also, being a hire bike it'll have been regually serviced

CB D27, top bike, I had a go on my friends & was pleasantly surprised at how good it is.

Are we all agreed or is anyone going to be controversial and go for the Giant. To be honest I do like the CB and fancy the hydro brakes etc for another £20

Cape Wrath for sure - it used to win magazine tests for entry level bikes.
