I know this has been discussed before but I can't actually find out one piece of information about it which is stopping me buying at the mo.
Is it capable of getting street maps on it?
I plan to go touring and a GPS/mapping tool which has a good battery span and is AA batteries so easy to replace would be ideal. I don't mind spending time before the tour planning routes on a computer to make it easier during. Not sure about getting recharge points so replacable batteries might be the best for me.

The entry-level etrex won't accept streetmaps.

But the higher level versions (eg from the selection shown here https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=145
can be loaded with streetmaps purchased from Garmin as an optional extra.

The Garmin site, shown above, gives the spec and capabilities of the various models.
