At the moment im using a pair of good old Addidas trainers on my V* flats but they are not waterproof and dont offer the best grip even with the little Shin rippers on the peddles.

Does anyone have any reccomendations for me ive been thinking of going for a pair of goretex cross trainers like a pair of merrels or salamon. They light waterproof and think they might do the job but i could do with all the advice....

Thanks

I asked a similar question the other day, seems the general consensus is to get some 5-10 impacts which seem to be cheap(ish) on Chain Reaction Cycles, I decided against them though as my girlfriend has a pair and I don't want to look like we match in everything, so I went for some Nike Air Whistlers which have the climbing shoe sole for extra grip on flat pedals, wish I had them for this weekend though as I've got a calf that looks like a tigers had a bite of it :(

Have you seen the Pearl Lzumi X-Alp Mid GTX I wonder what anyone thinks of them??
  • Five Ten Impacts seem to be the most recommended when I ask, as Im in a similar situation to yourself. I'm contemplating going to SPD's but I don't know if I can do it lol!

If you stick with flats buy some 5-10 and some sealskinz sock, really waterproof and very comfortable.
