Tyre clearance, I haven't got a clue, you'd have to look at one in the flesh.
As for weight I'd estimate about 24lbs or a little bit more maybe.

Thanks. I'll take a look if I can find one.

I'd still go for the Voodo D-Jab.

But supermonkey, you seem to have decided the Whyte is the bike for you already - so you'd better buy it or you might always feel youy've missed out by buying another bike.

Maybe ask the dealer how much to upgrade the fork to a Reba?

Spiderman - does that include fork? Seems very reasomnable - I thought the frames were £999 alone?

Don't put a Reba on it if you've already decided you want that little bit of extra travel.

I think that's the price from the first page? If you add the Reba fork and 2008 XT then click on the order button it calculates it for you and comes to about £1900.

I can't find any decent pictures of one anywhere. If I go past Halfords I may pop in and have a look.

I think you might be right.

I don't know if they will upgrade the fork though as the Recon that's on the Whyte is not sold in the UK so they'd be left with a non-UK fork. AFAIK the only Recon forks that are sold here are U-Turn?

What would be a good 130mm alternative? Revelation?

There's a review of the D Jab on this site that I saw on the home page a few days ago, funny enough.

I'm not recommending it, mind, just saying it looks a good bike and fantastic value.

Sorry, I meant to type Revelation - not Reba. I really like my Revelation now I've got it set up right and have worn it in a bit. I can see what all the fuss is about.

Is the Revelation a significant step up from the Recon then?

If I could find a bike with adjustable forks that fitted what I want to do then I would be up for that. I think Cotic is frame only though isn't it?

It is. I built mine up from a 2nd hand frame - it's had various forks on it over the years (Bomber ETA 105, Fox Float 100, Fox Vanilla 125) before sticking with the Talas (except when it's set-up singlespeed when it has Pace RC31's on).
