Commuting Tyres - Recommendations please

I have a commuter bike (Dawes Discovery 601) , but the tyres (Schwalbe Delta Cruiser) are starting to deteriorate, leading to punctures.

Any recommendations for a quick commuter tyre with a bit of tread that will last?

15-20 quid would be my budget.

Everyone will say Schwalbe Marathon Plus!

(Though I have the Spesh Nimbus Armadilloes, and they seem okay)

Thanks for the swift replies, but Marathon Plus are outside my price-range, and aren't they a bit heavy with the extra protection?
If they don't slow me down, then I guess I could invest in some.

I do 20 miles daily (Dawes Tanami) and fitted 700c Continental Ultra GatorSkin tyres just after xmas having worn out the original Schwalbes. Not much tread - nearly a slick actually but seem to grip well in all weathers, bought from Parkers International for about £12 each.

They ARE pretty heavy - that's the puncture protection! How useful the reflective strip is, is still open though! :D

My sister is a mad touring type - she's currently off round Canada at the moment with the same Schwalbe M Plusses she rode on when she went from Seattle to San Francisco last year. She hasn't had a puncture in 3 years.

If the Marathon Plus is too much, I've found the regular Marathon's to be extremely durable too.

Standard Marathons can be picked up on Ebay cheaply. I got a pair of 26" for £27 inc postage. One tyre in LBS is £20!
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Well I'm gonna say Continental Sport Contact. 700 miles and only 1 puncture (which was a pinch flat). Plus if you get a puncture within the first year they'll give you a free inner tube. £20 each.

Continental Sport Contact - great commuting tyre. I also use the Top Contact (winter version). Both seem very durable.

Finally had it. Been getting a fl@ about every other day lately. Think it's time for a pair of Schwalbe Marathon Plus (MrsK thinks so too).

Thought I had my first P with my M's today as the rear end sqirmed a little. Looked around when stopped at teh roadside and it was the edge of a draincover that gave the movement.

My vote is for Conti GP4000s, I use these on the fixed wheel, and schwalbe stelvios on the recumbent. Not particularly resistant tyres at all, but they do handle and grip well.
