Wanted to say thank you...

...to the gentleman this morning that tried to either kill or maim me.
I was cycling in to work up a steepish short climb in to Halifax. The road has two lanes on my side and traffic is slow moving due to the lights 100 meters further up the road.
I was riding along about 2 foot out from the kerb due to the usual gutters etc when a landrover with what I can only describe as small monstor truck style wheels shoots past me nearly knocking me off. Slightly un-nerved but ok I managed to pass him on the inside due to the line of stationary traffic and comfortably get up to the lights. When I pulled away the cars started coming past me and he shot past again far too close, much closer than all the other cars even though there was plenty of space free.
At this point I held my arm out as if to say, why did you just do that. At this point he slammed his brakes on directly in front of me only just allowing me to stop in time. I thought me may be held up by other cars but as he set off again and I followed he did the same again almost knocking me off. At this point I managed to get along side him and said why did you just try to kill me to which I got abuse and much gesticulating.
Unfortunately I didn't managed to get a number plate so there is not a lot I can do. Do there people not realise they are in a 1 ton car and will easily kill someone if they do not drive with care.

Surely they are not mentally sound if that is their view? It is like me hating people in blue coats! Of all the things going on in the world and people get angry about having to drive round somebody which will slow them down by roughly 1 second!

I'm guessing this was salterebbe, outside the hospital. I used to drive that route every day and have seen a lot of incidents, not just bikes been pushed about by cars, but cars being pushed around by lorries etc. everyone gets fustrated especially when the busses stop in the left hand lane.
There is a cycle path that bypasses this area if you are going toward the town center, but it has lots of barriers like this --/ \-- that the handle bars dont fit through (probably to stop motor bikes which are to heavy to lift). Starts off just before the shell garage and is all tarmac.
Don't know if you already knew about this or wether its not suitable for where your heading...0
