Delightful turn of phrase shouted at me on the way up to work this morning. Oh yeah, he then proceeded to cut in front pretty sharply.
Sadly I was too taken aback to actually respond with anything at all!
For anyone in or knows Glasgow, the cycle lane in question was the one down on the river side of the Broomielaw, just past the Renfrew Ferry. Considering it's basically just a footpath painted green which is still used by pedestrians and has bikes going both ways down it, I tend to just stay on the road when I can since I'm heading out towards Finnieston anyway.
Didn't bother me at first but now, thinking about every time I've been crowded out or cut up by a taxi, or had them sitting in the green boxes at the font of lights, I'm pretty pissed at the guy.
Rant over! Have a good Monday boys and girls

The guy doesnt know enough of his highway code to be on the road...0

I don't like the sound of that cycle path and I probably wouldn't want to use it either. Don't worry about the fact that you didn't respond, getting a reaction of you was probably what the guy wanted. He is clearly frustrated with his miserable life so just decided to yell abuse at a stranger for absolutely no reason. I bet it didn't make him feel any better either, I'm sure he's still just as miserable.*´¨)

I'm always quite cautious of shared use cycle paths and only really use them when I have to or on the rare occasions it's get me through a junction (i.e by avoiding traffic lights) quicker.
I've always found the problem with being shouted at is that I never come up with a witty comeback until a good few minutes later! Guess we should start a thread on here with comebacks for the typical abuse we get :-D
I also had a close call with a black taxi driver this morning, coming through a cross road I was on the left, he started moving over into the cycle lane (solid white line one to!) and then rather nicely decided he was turning left once he got past the corner. He was kind enough to indicate and I was being wary so slammed the brakes on and gave him (and his fare!) a rather nasty surprise when I banged the rear window! No damage or harm done, just a little irratated!!0 -
I know that route well - it's one of my handful of alternate routes to get between Bells Bridge and Cowcaddens where I work. It's barely wide enough for two pedestrians to walk side by side, let alone giving space for two directions of cyclists too! Adding to that the surface is in places terrible - they seem to have used some 'high friction' slabs in sections by the river.
I tried the cycle track once and never again so I too follow the road when I go this way. These days I tend to go through the pedestrian tunnel over the expressway from the SECC instead - avoids the climb up Hope Street! At least it has a seperate, wide cycle lane which is only problematic on the blind 90' corners!
Luckily drivers like this are in the minority though they do seem to crop up now and then. Roundabouts seems to attract them too. I've had this sort of thing several times at the roundabout by the Science Center, as has one of my cycling colleagues in the same place and I was almost knocked off this morning on one of the traffic light controlled roundabouts near Braehead (I hadn't even jumped the red light!).
Keeps us on our toes!0
