Sort of confused about this one. What do I need? People keep giving me conflicting information. Or does it really not matter.?

I am interested in Marin Mount Vision or Marin Attack Trail and the main difference is the travel of the suspension and a little bit of weight

Thanks

Martyn

for most folks, about 120-130mm of travel is plenty. if you start riding with more travel, the bike will be more tough and heavier for more "hardcore" riding. you need to ask yourself the question, if you are only going to have one bike, do you need to be carrying around the extra weight of a 6 inch bike when a 5 will do the job perfectly well?

heavier bikes are slower along the flats and uphil (so thats 2/3rds of your ride) and require more energy to get them going.

shorter travel bikes tend to be lighter and are less tiring to ride. a 5 inch bike will have a good balance of weight and strength, probably all most bike riders really need.

Check this question out! We had a similar discussion about this the other day in here and I thought it would be a good idea to know whats what about travel and different types of riding for this exact scenario!

    I'm giving myself an award

@Martyn - Here is a thread you might be interested in reading, it discusses the travel of bikes and their "category" for riding purposes.

Attack trail is a 'big' bike and I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that if you're not sure whether you want XC or Trail, the Attack Trail (ignore the name) isn't for you. It's on the heavyweight end of Trail and very much an AM bike. Unless you plan on doing jumps, drops and occasional DHing in addition to riding very big and hard trails, it's not the bike for you...

If it's a Marin you want sir, it's very much a Mount Vision!
