    Wrong. My Sirrus is a nice bike, does the job. I admit I'd prefer drops for longer rides, but for novices a flat bar is far less intimidating. And the Sirrus is actually fairly brisk. I can see the case for flats and drops - and I ride both.

    Nah. Hybrids are rubbish.

    I was a novice once - and I got drops. I'm glad I didn't waste my time with flat bars.

    I can't see why drops are intimidating.

    It is horses for courses, with no right or wrong answer. Both are fit for purpose, given the correct circumstances.
