Royal Mail Standard Parcels is cheapest - just make sure you check the measurement restrictions carefully! More than once I've had to produce the size criteria and measure the box in front of doubting staff! Ditto ParcelForce depot actually!

Apart from that, no problems sending or receiving. I think PF will even pick up at your door.

I've done it a couple of times with Parcel Force, they will pick it up and you can specify 2 hour periods in which to do it. Get a an old bike box from your LBS if you don't have one and use plenty of bubble wrap. The 48hr service is pretty reasonable and you can pay and view the signature of the receiver online.
