Don't have an Izoard yet but I hope to in a couple of weeks time.

My shortlist consisted of a Tarmac, Roubaix, Madone 5.2, CLX, Mortirolo and Izoard. A late addition to that was the Orbea Orca - which I think is utterly stunning - but the only way that was within my budget a complete mail order affair from Epic (there's an Orbea dealer in Newcastle but I wouldn't get sized and/or try their bikes then buy from elsewhere).

Pretty much set on an Izoard with Centaur carbon compact, Fulcrum 3s plus having my DT 1850s converted to Campagnolo.

Now all I'm after is a nice dry summer.

I test-rode a Mortirolo recently, which is a fairly similar set-up. I was all primed to love it, but actually didn't.

For me, riding on a windy day, the bike felt very twitchy. I'm sure they're very good bikes, just not for me - a different geometry was better for my riding style. It really is worth test-riding a few bikes and then choosing whichever suits your particular needs and physique.

If you're spending that kind of money the dealers should oblige.

I just bought the Izoard from Epic. Coupled with free delivery they can't be beat for price.

At first I was worried about buiying a bike online, but I went to my LBS and got fitted on a jig first. I didn't feel guilty I was ripping them off as they still charged me 30 quid for the service (which incidentally I thought was quite steep), but then got a print out of my ideal geometry, and ended up saving a hell of a lot more than 30 quid in the end.

Epic were very accomodating, and because of my size were more than happy to work to my exacting standards (ie gear ratio's, crank length, stem length, head spacers, bar size, colours etc).

Also Orca v Izoard = Pro Frame v Mid Range Frame

But the question is, for the same price do you get a hot Orca frame under specced, or get a sweet looking Wilier specced accordingly?

For me and my budget it was a no brainer, but it comes down to personal choice.

    The long grazed legged one
