Voigt, Eisel and 2 others on the attack.

Wonder what will happen today? The Rabobank robot squad will get on the front and string it out no doubt, but who will get shelled? Will Slipstream look like they deserve a grand tour place today?
Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.

Tyler Farrar has crashed - Slipstream are not having much fun right now it seems.

Wait a minute - Did Evans just win a road stage?

The wheel-sucker strikes again. Gesink blew his ass away while Evans was sitting on. The least he could've done is give the kid the stage. Or go back and actually help his team-mate.

I'm not a card-bearing member of the Cadel Evans fan club, as you might have guessed.
  • Hmm that wasn't as exciting as I'd hoped it'd be. Gesink looking impressive still, but it's Evans who picks up the win, did anybody see him on the front today?

Popo did a lot of work for Evans (but couldn't seem to stay with the leading two) and then got pipped on the line by the group containing Schleck, Rebellin & Noncenti.

Has Eisel decided that with all the sprinters in HighRoad he'd better find a new niche? That's two or is it three breaks he has been in so far, good preparation for a long break in Roubaix perhaps.

Second time this year... the world has gone crazy
  • Clinging on to the back wheel of a Rabobank climber on a French mountain, must be a case of deja vu for Evans

I am dying to hear how Duffers manages to pronounce the name of that squad!

You can't really knock Evans on this one. He sits on, as if they go backward it becomes a 2-1 SL-RB race and if they stay ahead, he'll be fresher in a sprint. He knows that by doing so his team has the best chance of victory.

He's a classy rider. He rode with his head to day and showed some good form to boot.
It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.

Me neither but one of the unwritten rules of pro cycling (alongside the 'do as many and as varied performance enhancing drugs as you can' one) is that when someone is going for the GC on a stage race then if someone helps them establish a GC advantage they get gifted the stage. I haven't seen it yet but assume Gesink put up little resistance?

Yes, Gesink did contest the sprint. Evans was in a tricky position because Popovych was just behind... so you can't blame him for wheel sucking today. There was a moment where he sort of paused to wait for Popo, but then he talked into his radio and I guess was told to stay with Gesink. It was a fair victory.

He would pronounce it "Selle Italia"
  • Well, the whole of the Netherlands exploded with that victory by Gesink.

And I mentioned him yesterday and I'll mention him again today. What a ride by Pierre Rolland.
  • Good stuff, Simon Spilak deserves a mention too for sticking with some of the best riders. Despite Chavanel's poor showing, France are having a decent race - Lhotellerie climbed strongly, Hupond had a nice break...

The rate Slipstream are going, I don't think they could outride a lot of teams that will be vying for wildcards at the TDF. What has happened to Millar?! Good to see some young French guns doing good rides.
