What is ment by clincher wheels

    ............as opposed to "tubular rims" (aka sprint rims) which can only be used with tubular tyres (the inner tube is contained completely within an outer casing and cannot be repaired without unstitching the casing) where the tyre is held in position on the rim with tub tape or cement.

    'Clincher' is an American term for normal tyres with separate inner tubes and either wire or kevlar bead. The British term is (or certainly used to be) 'pressures'.

    Tubulars (aka 'tubs') is as Bronzie explains. They are almost exclusively used for racing.

    I'm planning on buying some new wheels soon.
    Surely most wheels are designed for normal tyres with separate inner tubes, but I don't see that many wheels advertised with the word 'clincher'.
    Can I safely assume most wheels are of this type unless advertised differently?
