Filtering......

After 9 months of commuting by bike I finally did some filtering. I don't normally bother filtering at the traffic speed is too high to be weaving around them.
With the winds yesterday a lot of the roads around Warrington were closed off and seemingly Thousands of HGVs decided to try and get through the centre of Warrington. Brought everywhere to a standstill.
Normally I wait like traffic at the lights as the flow isn't too bad normally, but yesterday all the HGVs had blocked the roads preventing people going through green lights. I waited for a while, like a good little boy, for the traffic to move. After a few minutes and only 30metres of movement I gave the motor vehicles a metaphorical middle finger and went around the congestion causing buggers.
I'm glad I didn't go on the bus, It would have taken me hours to get home.

Well done! Now, the burning question is did you overtake, undertake, or filter down the middle of two lanes?0

Overtook all the way. No space on the left anyway - not that I'm foolish to pass cars let alone HGVs on the left.
Even on the part where there was multiple lanes going in the same direction, vehicles only seemed to want to go in one direction and occupied just one of the lanes so it left me with a clear lane.
I don't think I'll need to do any filtering today, the traffic should be back to normal and I should be resume my normal 40Kph down that stretch.0 -

surely the REAL burning question is "did you go through red lights even though the roads were gridlocked?"Want to know the Spen666 behind the posts?

Filtering is one of the favourite bits of my commute! I actually missed mixing it up with the London traffic on the weeks I'm not around central London!! It's just such a satisfying feeling flying down the middle of a solid lanes of traffic, knowing your the quickest thing around - until another cyclist overtakes you that is but then who said a little competition was a bad thing :-D0
