hello,
I'm planning on building a bike up for the misus for her birthday and would like some help with parts.
She's only just started riding so im after stuff that will make the whole learning experience comfortable and enjoyable. I've got a dmr trailstar im going to use for the frame as we're not really xc orientated and thought that it would be a good frame to get her 'ripping' on.
but any suggestions on other parts?
things like bars and stems that work well? comfy saddles?
and also do girls want/need a lighter fork?
budget is probably about 200 and i've got transmission and wheels sorted.
any help would be much appreciated.
thank yooouuuu

Spesh saddle has been kind to my wife so far!
An Air fork if you can as a coil one will definitely not be ideal for her smaller frame a lighter weight.0 -
forks maybe something like a RS tora solo air,
saddle - even female testers at WMB liked the charge spoon saddle at only £20
bars and stems - bars = anything but cut down i'd have thought and a shorter than normal stem for the short reach
brakes will cost a bit remember...
looking hard for £2000 -
forgot to say she's 5' 5" if thats any help to anyone?
and brakes wise im gonna use the V's she's got on her current bike for now.
i realise i'm gonna have to be pretty lucky with the fork though...
we'll see.
thanks for the help so far!0 -
could do 2nd hand forks?
when are you building it up for?
I was planning on buying new forks to replace my tora solo airs but I've not got nearly enough money yet and its a fair way off.0 -
hmmm...
well her birthday's in june, im just getting parts as and when.
what model are they? how old? and most importantly how much?
cheers dude.0 -
see it might take till june as i'm getting some fox talas :? but i think thats the best way to go with your budget, 2nd hand air forks. along with a short stem and a comfy saddle are the main bits.0
