Hello all

I've got a set of Fox Float 07's

The other day after having set off on a ride I'd realised i'd put slightly too much pressure in my front suspension... a mate suggested just pushing down the inlet valve and letting a very small amount of pressure out... which i preceeded to do... when i did attempt to release some pressure through the valve out came about half a teaspoons worth of green oil/lubricant along with a small blast of air!

Is this me being an idiot doing something I shouldn't have been doing i.e. letting out air from the forks without using the air pump or is there a blown seal in my shoxs?

Cheers guys

  • so is it perfectly normal for oil/lube to come out of the air chamber valve when pressed down with ur finger???

if the fork has just been used or stored up side down yes as the air goes straight into the oil chamber.

Percy the Penguin was riding his snowmobile across Antarctica when it started coughing and spluttering and leaking oil.

He limped it to the garage and asked the mechanic to fix it. "It might take a while," said the mechanic. "That's OK," said Percy, "I'm feeling a bit peckish anyway. You get it sorted, I'm going to get an ice cream!"

An hour later, Percy turns up back at the garage with melted Mr Whippy all down his front. "Looks like you've blown a seal!" said the mechanic. "No, it's just ice-cream!" replied Percy.

    I'll get me coat....
