Been on tenterhooks all day waiting to hear back about a job interview I had yesterday and still not heard from them. They were supposed to be in touch by mid afternoon so I'm guessing won't be a positive result!
Bugger.

Fingers crossed! It isn't over til it's over.

I am in a kind of similar position.

I'd be inclined to chase them/the agency up - nothing untoward, as they told you that you would know by yesterday afternoon.

At least then you will know, one way or tuther.

Hope it goes the way you want.

I wholly agree with Daniel B above.

What is it with the british character that they are reluctant to simply 'ask' ?

A call to the agency will at least chop out doubts, fears and irrational speculation.

If they can't give you an answer when they said, there is always the chance that you are second choice, but the agency won't tell you that until the first choice has accepted/declined to keep their options (and chances of a commission) open. It happens all the time.

Might as well give them an email.

I've been waiting for one uni to respond for ages, emailed them, got an email back within an hour explaining, so now i can go on holiday not worrying.

Finally got the reply this morning - thanks but no thanks. Disappointed case it would have meshed very nicely with some other things. Such is life! At least I know now.

Bugger, oh well, have to believe that something better will come along soon - it generally is the case.

I still don't know about my position either.
