Must have been the curse of Bronzie picking him for Pro Tour Pundit

Boonen back in 40th also, although McEwen seems a bit more spritely in 8th. Peta and Freire looking good for Milan San Remo.

Are we going to see a break by a Tinkoff rider every stage like last year's Giro?

Is Tornado Tom sandbagging? or is his form further behind than Oscar and some of the other classics challengers?

This will be an interesting next four weeks in terms of the season.

I was kinda disappointed to see Ignatiev in a pointless doomed breakaway yesterday. He's too good for that... Oleg needs to have a word and tell him to pick his attacks more carefully. Today's uphill finish would have been perfect for him, but I bet he's stuffed after yesterday.

Agreed. He has the ability to win races like this. Not play a Russian Jacky Durand.
It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.

Perhaps he's a bit like Devolder, ie. not much happening upstairs, and needs a good brain to control him? He's super strong and a great rider.
Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.

Interesting to see Ricco's outburst against Gerdemann. I'm just waiting for the German to say "Ricardo, I heard you had the hormonal values of a child, you're certainly behaving like one"

Also interesting to see Ballans comments about Ricco in this months ProCycling.
'This week I 'ave been mostly been climbing like Basso - Shirley Basso.'
  • He's not the most well liked individual is he?

I'm trying to find a video of his bike throwing, need to ascertain whether it is as good as Riis in the '97 Tour

You can't really see what happened in the run-up, but the bike throwing is there.

Wow, Eurosport coverage hits an all time low. Stage 3 was supposed to be live on ES 2 from 2.15. Coverage starts with like 5 km to go and Duffers and the other guy, who is even worse than Duffers, have NO CLUE what's going on.

Even when they go under the red kite and ULTIMO KM comes on screen, they still think there's a lap to go. Even when Rodriguez crosses the line and does his salute they still don't realise the race is over.

Then there's some kind of moto crash on the hill and it's chaos... Duffers still doesn't know the race is over. Truly woeful.
  • Cheers.

The photo made it look more spectacular :( It was more of a slightly petulant toss-push over the line rather than throw. I'd been hoping to see bits of Scott scatter all across the road.

Stage 3 is already over then. Have you got results? Which Rodriguez is that?

Spanish champion Joaquim Rodriguez (Caisse d'Epargne). Di Luca second. Couldn't stick the inane rambling long enough to catch who got third... losing money whilst watching Cheltenham was the more attractive option

After both going either side of a slower rider Gerdemann sideswiped Ricco's bike accidently knackering the brake calipers so the wheel jammed, while the German also pulled his foot out the pedal and was lucky to stay upright.

I disagree. Ricco cut across Gerdemann - he sideswiped himself! It was in own fault.

I really know nothing about racing, but I've gone for Denman.

Me too. I'm hoping for a 1,2,3 of Denman, Kauto Star, and Exotic Dancer. (Although I've also made an each way for Neptune Collonges and in case the pundits are right I've got 2 quid on Kauto first, Denman 2nd)

Cheers. I only had a tenner on it, but it does mean there's more money in my Betfair account than there was at the start of the week... miraculous :P

This was 100% Ricco's fault. No question. I'm amazed Gerdemann kept both tires on the road.
